Dude, just take the hat off….
So I was watching the Obama celebration on HBO today and U2 came on for a two song set. The started off with Pride which was pretty amazing to see them sing it on the same spot where MLK gave his famous speech. Bono tossed in some lines about the dream of MLK. He said, “This is not just an American dream,’ he said. “Also an Irish dream, a European dream, an African dream . . . . an Israeli dream . . . and also a Palestinian dream.” A bit of a zinger in a pretty bland celebration overall. He modified parts of City of Blinding Lights to fit with the day.

It was a great couple of tracks even though the sound was off in a really bad way. Watching them on stage got me to wondering when the last time was that we saw The Edge without some form of hat on his head. Granted it was damn cold out at the event, but this guy wears hats whenever he is on stage anymore. It’s getting sad. Really sad. Angus Young of AC/DC still wearing the school boy outfit kind of sad. We can all agree that it’s not the 1980′s anymore, right?

The Edge doesn’t look like some sort of mutant when he is without a hat on his head. I don’t get it. I think the world would keep spinning if he came out on stage without a beanie on his dome. Come on man, live a little, take the hat off on stage sometime…
