Four and Five stars

I like my share of techo / electronica. Not a massive fan but I like a fair amount of what I’ve been exposed to. If I had to pick a favorite I’d say Fatboy Slim. I’m a pretty big fan of a lot of 60′s music as well. Used to be an insane freak for The Doors, Hendrix, Janis, etc. I still like all of them, I just have not listened to them in a while. Somehow I mixed the blending of Techno and Jimi Hendrix by the band Beautiful People. As a whole, I’d say I really like it and I’ve been listening to it a lot in the last 48 hours.

A few years back there was a tribute disc called “Stone Free”. One of my favorite covers on the collection was by PM Dawn. It was a totally different approach to a Hendrix song than I had ever heard before. A fresh perspective. This album reminds me of the first time I heard that track. It’s an interesting experiment to take Hendrix and mix him up with Techno. His psychedelic experimentation fits really well with electronic beats. Unlike that really bad pairing I spoke of previously, this collection is a cohesive blend from start to finish.
