Quick notes from my road trip
Decemberists, “Hazards of Love” – Wow, this is one dense album. It’s not something you can put on and have in the background and casually listen to. It’s also not a singles album where you can easily play a track or two. The Decemberists have brought back the concept album wtih a vengance and I like it. Good stuff, I have to listen to it more before I can fully articulate my thoughts.
U2, “No Line On The Horizon” – My initial thought is that I am unimpressed. The first single “Get On Your Boots” seems really bad to me. It may grow on me after a while but nothing really stands out to me.
Supreme Beings of Leisure, “11i” and Les Claypool “Of Fungi and Foe” – I didn’t listen to more than a few tracks on both of these so not much to say yet beyond they both have not strayed out from what I would expect.
John Lee Hooker & Canned Heat, Hooker ‘n Heat – See below for that one.
I did put on a couple of live Wilco shows from three nights at the Pageant in 2008 as well. The First and the Third night, both were amazing sets and the quality was really good.
